WASHINGTON, March 11, 2025 | Breakwater Strategy, a leading strategic insights and communications consultancy, announced today that Chris Byrne has joined the firm as Managing Director, further strengthening the firm’s capabilities in crisis communications, media strategy, and government affairs.
Byrne brings nearly two decades of experience in communications and public affairs, having held leadership positions across media, corporate, and government sectors. His extensive background includes serving in the White House under the George W. Bush administration, senior producer roles at Fox News Channel, a Trump Campaign advisor and as Vice President at Prosek Partners in New York City.
“Chris represents a rare blend of someone who both deeply understands the media landscape and, at Fox, has helped shape it firsthand,” said Arik Ben-Zvi, CEO of Breakwater Strategy. “As many businesses and organizations transition to Trump 2.0, there’s perhaps no better counselor than Chris—a former Trump campaign advisor and transition team member himself, and a distinguished communications operator who can help navigate the evolving intersection of media, business, and government. We’re thrilled to welcome him to Breakwater.”
Prior to joining Breakwater, Byrne served as a Communications Advisor to the 2016 Donald J. Trump Presidential Campaign and Presidential Transition Team, where he designed messaging strategies, drafted speeches, and led rapid response efforts for cabinet nominees. He also founded and led West Wing Strategies, providing executive visibility programs and crisis communications counsel to clients across various industries. His experience includes serving as Vice President at Prosek Partners, where he established the firm’s public affairs and government relations advisory services as well as its executive speechwriting offering.
“I’ve long admired Breakwater’s multidisciplinary approach and their ability to help organizations navigate high-stakes moments—and the more I got to know them, the more I loved the firm, its people, and their dynamic worldview,” said Byrne. “In today’s rapidly evolving media and political environment, organizations need strategic partners who understand the intersection of business strategy, public policy, and the public conversation. I’m excited to join this talented team and help our clients address their most complex communications challenges.”
Byrne’s media experience includes eight years at Fox News Channel, where he served as Senior Producer for a number of live primetime programs, leading the editorial strategy, advising network hosts, and managing production teams. He also worked with network executives to relaunch Fox’s weekend primetime lineup, producing live programming at Super Bowl LVI in Los Angeles and exclusive interviews with high-profile figures including former President Donald J. Trump. His government experience began in the George W. Bush administration, where he served as a spokesman and Special Assistant to White House Press Secretary Dana Perino, as well as an advisor in the Office of Presidential Personnel.
A graduate of the University of Delaware, Byrne brings extensive expertise in speechwriting, media training, executive positioning, and crisis management to Breakwater Strategy and its clients.
