Breakwater Strategy Welcomes Terry Wade as a Senior Advisor

WASHINGTON, May 6, 2026 |  Breakwater Strategy, a leading strategic insights and communications consultancy, announced today that Houston-based Terry Wade — a strategic communications advisor with more than two decades of experience spanning journalism, corporate affairs, and the global energy sector — will serve as a Senior Advisor to the firm and its clients. Wade brings his expertise to Breakwater Strategy’s advisor network in an independent capacity, continuing to lead his own consultancy practice.

“I am thrilled to partner with the talented advisory team at Breakwater Strategy. In an era of constant uncertainty, their unique ability to blend quantitative research and insights with disciplined strategy and execution makes them an invaluable ally for companies navigating complex challenges,” said Wade.

Wade most recently served as Global Head of Media Relations at ExxonMobil. Before that, he spent six years as Supervisor of Corporate and Digital Communications at Aramco Americas. Earlier, he served as a Senior Vice President at Edelman, leading the corporate affairs and energy practice in Houston.

Before moving into corporate communications, Wade spent twelve years as a journalist at Reuters News, serving as Bureau Chief, Senior Correspondent, and Correspondent in Houston, Lima, and São Paulo, covering energy, commodities, financial markets, politics, and economics. He is fluent in Spanish and Portuguese.

“Terry has a perspective that very few people in this business possess,” said Arik Ben-Zvi, CEO of Breakwater Strategy. “He spent years as a journalist covering energy from the inside out, understanding exactly how reporters think and what drives coverage. Then he spent much of the next decade handling communications for two of the world’s largest energy companies, navigating those same moments from the other side. For energy and technology clients facing high-visibility public affairs challenges today, that combination of experience is invaluable. We are thrilled to have him as an advisor.”

This announcement comes at a moment of extraordinary complexity for the energy industry as it seeks to manage rising demand, geopolitical uncertainty, and grid constraints, while technology companies face intensifying scrutiny over their own surging energy consumption. High-stakes “moments that matter” are becoming more frequent and more consequential, requiring communications advisors who understand these dynamics from all angles.
